3D Printer Design: Kitchen Functional Thing.
Your assignment, is to create a 3D thing that is functional in a commercial kitchen. Either something completely original or you may find something that already exists in the kitchen and add or make changes to it. We will do a walk through the kitchen here to get some ideas. You might want to take notes or even pictures. Your "thing" needs to have a purpose. Below are some ideas / examples of kitchen things made with a 3D printer. You may need to print this a few times to get it perfect, but whatever you choose to design MUST be created by you. You may not take an existing design and print it. Go into Tinkercad or 1 2 3 Design and start designing from scratch. The key here is that YOU must create the design and it must be functional. This means it has to be strong enough to actually be used in the kitchen.

Nintendo Switch 3D Design Contest:
Your next independent project, is a 3D design competition. The link is below. Let's hope it's not blocked. You will be creating an accessory or add on, for the Nintendo Switch. You are responsible to read the rules, deadlines, and contest guidelines. You have all week to work on this, but it's due on April 8, so you will need to finish it BEFORE we leave for spring break. Use Tinkercad or 123 Design (which is on the 3D printer computer) to create your designs. Also, the files needed have already been downloaded, and are below. Did you see what the prizes were, holy cow! Have fun with this!! Good luck!

Dear Cindy -
We will donate 10% of our entire sales from January 31. This includes everything (even take out orders), so it is not necessary for anyone to specify that they are dining in support of your event. Obviously the busier the night = the greater the give back, so it's all about how you get the word out to your supporters.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to 1/31!

Equestrian T-Shirt Design Project - 40 points
Client: Upton Middle School Equestrian Team - St. Joe Public Schools
Team: Equestrian Team
Objective: Create 4 different t-shirt designs for the equestrian team following the preferences below.
Preferences:
1. Must say St. Joe Equestrian Team (Please do not use Upton or Middle School on the t-shirts so the kids can use them in HS as well.)
2. Please include a design for the front and the back of the t-shirt for all 4 designs.
3. School colors are Blue and Gold. Please do 2 designs for a light colored t-shirt and 2 designs for a Navy Blue t-shirt.
4. The team competes in Saddle Seat, English, Western, and Jumping Classes so please do not make the design specific for one discipline.
5. Including the St. Joe Bear or bear claw in some way would be great.
6. If you use a horseshoe in your design please make sure that it is facing up like a "U" and not down. An upside down horseshoe is unlucky.
7. Finally, be creative - these t-shirts are for 12-14 year old girls and boys so have some fun with it!
***Take your time - this is your extra assignment for the week and it is graded. I've included a few of the versions of the logo for you to use if you'd like, but you are not limited to these.

Friday, November 18th:
Today we let our peers get caught up. As they do, you will be working on coloring in black & white line art. I have some examples below. Feel free to use them, or use google to find your own. The image you select should be a challenge, and require lots of attention of detail. I must approve your original line art image. This activity is designed to help you practice using the tablets, as well as focusing on the attention to detail that is required in the design industry. Have fun with this and Happy Friday! (this is a graded assignment)
***Print your final work and email me your final project as well.

Soccer
Here is the message they sent me. I have no clue what any of the means, can you help?
"Please attach your artwork to your email response and we will forward it to our logo design team. We require a vector file in EPS, AI or PDF format for our graphics team to work with and also a small JPG picture so our customer service representatives can see your artwork. If you do not have access to a vector file, please send the highest quality image available to you"

Monday - November 14th:
Before starting this new assignment you MUST be caught up thru chapter 3 in Illustrator.
Today we will be redesigning a company logo. This company came to us last year to help them redesign their logo and they didn't like anything that we came up with. This year we are trying again. I'm going to give you the website link so you can see what the company is and what their current logo is. Please remember the following details when creating the logo.
1. AVS must be included prominently. Either as AVS or A. Van Stensel & Sons
2. It is a family business. 3rd and 4th generation family members.
3. Hunter green is a favorite color of the family.
4. This is a real estate appraising company. They determine value of houses and property.
5. One thing they liked about last years designs was the use of a light house, but this is NOT required.
6. Remember we are trying to create a brand identity for them. The website is weak, the logo was done in MOS Word...we can do better than that, so let's show them what we've got.
***I expect each of you to come up with at least 3 logos for this company. I expect each of your designs to be completely different. Challenge yourself and let's see if we can impress them this year! Remember - DO NOT START creating a logo until you have fully researched their website and their company.
